As I was leaving the AFL-CIO convention that was held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in downtown Pittsburgh, one of the bloggers stopped me and recommended that I take the time to check out the roof. I didn't want to at first--the thought of climbing a set of stairs with my gear on one shoulder and my laptop on the other was the furthest thing from appealing--but he swayed me with his clincher: "I figured, as a photographer, you would appreciate it more than anyone." He was right. It was beautiful... like standing at the bottom of a modern, industrialized Grand Canyon.
