I wasn't surprised that this image never got published--the photo doesn't tell the story. What are these kids doing with cows? Why do they have an audience? Is it some kind of cow talent show? Well, to be honest, I really don't know either--I arrived mid-production. I think that not knowing the context makes this image more intriguing and comical. It's the "A-Ha!" moment, a true manifestation of a lightbulb going off, that I didn't know that I had captured until I was going through my edit. And the eyes, which provide the majority of nonverbal communication, is covered by a cow's ear. It's as if he discovered the secret of life... and you can't see his eyes because his cow is in the way. So random.
